Providing top medical care to our patients in Tacoma, WA
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with an advanced education and extensive clinical training. They can provide a wide range of healthcare services, including diagnosis and management of common, as well as complex, medical conditions.
Nurse practitioners can see a wide range of patients and are able to perform several in-office procedures. Their advanced training allows them to do many of the things a doctor can do. Nurse practitioners not only diagnose and treat problems, but they also take into account a patient’s family, environment and community. I was born in Tacoma, WA and grew up in a military family living in Japan until my father retired, bringing me back to the Northwest. I finished high school in Tacoma and started by career in health care as an RN working in the neonatal intensive care unit at Tacoma General and in family practice as a consulting nurse. I returned to the University of Washington and completed my training with Medex Northwest in 1987. I have 29 years of experience as a board certified Physician Assistant in the field of urgent care and primary care medicine. I enjoy taking care of patients of all ages, including pediatrics, adults, geriatrics and women’s health.
I joined Primary Care Northwest in January 2016 to practice family medicine. I love the diversity and variety that comes with practicing family medicine along with the privilege of assisting my patients with their health care needs. I see my role as a patient advocate, helping my patients navigate the complex health care system and to make informed decisions about their own health care. My goal is to develop a trusting relationship with my patients and strive to provide an environment of compassion and respect. I hope to promote health care and wellness through my guidance and also as an example in my daily life.
In my free time I continue to care for patients in urgent care clinics and you can find me at the YMCA and volunteering in the community. I enjoy the beautiful Northwest activities and cheering on the Washington Huskies, the Mariners and the Seahawks!
